Horie Yui (堀江由衣) is a Japanese pop artist and a well known idol seiyuu. She has appeared in a variety of well-known anime, movies, and video games, since the 90s. She is still among the most active seiyuu today.

Horie's singing career began with releasing character songs and opening/ending themes for the anime she voice acted for. She was a part of the Hinata Girls in 2000, a group of seiyuu who performed songs from the anime Love Hina. Now she is an established artist, with several solo singles and albums. Horie has become known among J-pop circles for her elaborate concert tours, that combine her singing and acting abilities to create a storyline for each tour, complete with props, extras, and villains.

Biography

Horie says her first inspiration to be a voice actress was as a child watching the anime series Dirty Pair. She debuted in with the video game Voice Fantasia in 1997. She didn't attract much attention at the beginning of her career and only had a few minor roles in anime series and video games. Eventually she got a few leading roles in some animes that weren't very popular. In 2000 Yui landed a major role in Love Hina as the character Narusegawa Naru. She began to release albums and singles, becoming one of the more popular seiyuus in the anime industry. Her most known roles in animes as seiyuu are Narusegawa Naru, Tsukimiya Ayu, Multi and Honda Tooru.
