AKMUAkdong Musician (악동뮤지션) (often abbreviated as AKMU) is a Korean pop sibling duo who debuted under YG Entertainment in April 2014 with studio album PLAY after winning SBS' K-Pop Star 2. The siblings lived with their missionary parents in Mongolia for almost five years before returning to South Korea to pursue a career in the music industry. They are famous for their creative and witty lyrics as well as original music. Their first audition song "Dalikkojima" became a sensation prompting K-Pop Star 2 to release the song digitally even when they were just contestants on the show. Their debut album PLAY was well received by the public and critics, having sold more than 6.9 million downloads, and was awarded "Best Pop Album" in the 12th Korean Music Awards. It topped the Gaon Album Chart and became their first entry on Billboard, namely the Heatseekers Albums Chart and the World Albums Chart. Following the release of their critically acclaimed Sachungi series, consisting of Sachungi (Sang) (2016) and Sachungi (Ha) (2017), the sibling duo reached greater career heights with Hanghae (2019) and its lead single "Eotteohge Ibyeolkkaji Saranghagesseo, Neol Saranghaneun Geoji", which not only topped the Circle Digital Chart, but also sold 2.5 million digital copies, following "Oraennal Oraenbam (Last Goodbye)" (2017), and was the fourth single to be certified triple platinum for streaming in Korea Music Content Association history. Their third mini-album, LOVE EPISODE, is released this week on June 3rd.
